Meet the Artist

Hi, my name is Stacey Kohl, and welcome to my online gallery and shop! My website showcases my exploration of the multimedia world of abstract, contemporary art. Utilizing acrylics, metallics, inks and various mediums, my creations are experiments of spontaneous beauty, and an expression of working through my re-entry into painting, after taking a break to raise my kids and focus on my loved ones. With a background in interior design, I began again, and established a business working with clients to create in-home murals, faux finishes, and other paint & decor based transformations. At the same time, I was columnist specializing in interior design trends for our local magazine, The Julington Creek Press. As I branched out, local builders connected me with the opportunity of contributing to "Extreme Makeover Home Edition” under the guidance of my soon-to-be mentor, Nancy Hadley. Nancy called me back to volunteer several mores times and each time we became closer and closer friends. After a 15 year long pause to raise my youngest child, Nancy broke the ice again in my artistic journey. After painting with her in my garage, I rediscovered my passion for painting, reigniting my artistic journey of continued growth and experimentation. Even after her passing, her commitment to art endures through me and all of us touched by Nancy's legacy and love.

Abstract Artwork

This series consists of my artworks that do not attempt to represent an accurate depiction of our visual reality, but instead, uses the various materials themselves to explore creative freedom and interpretation.

Fluid Artwork

This series is my collection of work that takes the idea of going with the flow quite literally. This series tends to be more ethereal because when the paints or inks mix with the fluid mediums, they move in ways that flow into organic shapes and cells.

Angel Wing Series

The "Angel Wing Series" is a collection of work in memory of my friend and mentor Nancy Hadley. Nancy lost her battle with cancer and was taken from us way too soon on May 9, 2023. It was her who encouraged me to paint again and validated me as an artist. The first piece in the series was done the day after Nancy passed away, with 100% of the proceeds from the first painting going to the newly established Jevon and Nancy B. Hadley Alumni Scholarship Fund at UC Santa Barbara. Nancy and her husband, Jevon, spent much time at UC Santa Barbara which was the foundation of a shared life, marked by creativity, art, family, friendship, and love. Partial proceeds of 50% from the following artworks will be forwarded to this fund to support undergraduate students majoring in Art or English.
